All the online business experts tout that there is power in the list. The message is extremely clear Grow Your List! Great advise, for sure — and the tactics recommended are completely valid and work successfully.
It’s not the size of your list that matters. It’s the quality of your leads!
Here are 5 kick-ass ways to use Email Marketing in your Fitness Business!
#1 Use Auto-Responders
An Auto-Responder is one or more emails that are sent to an email subscriber based on a set of circumstances. The most common auto-responder sequence is sent when someone signs up for your list for the first time, through what is called a Lead Magnet, Squeeze Page or Opt-In.
When you implement an auto-responder, you’ll be able to easily identify who is actually interested in you & your business. If you want to get more information about auto-reponders, please comment on this post and I’ll circle back with you!
#2 Provide really great, actionable content
If your mailings are simply a list of your classes, change to your schedule or promotional material, they aren’t going to do anything to stand out and be “open-worthy.” Instead, come up with (and tweak as necessary) the structure of your mailings. Here’s a general formula:
- Exercise of the week/month/day
- What’s happening in your business
- Link to something interesting online (not your content)
- Call to Action
#3 Do something unexpected in your emails!
One of the best methods for encouraging your list to be active is to do the unexpected! If you’re sending out weekly mailings like in #2 above, what’s stopping you from sending out a bonus mailing that is a blooper from your Instagram or YouTube videos? Put yourself in the reader’s shoes… what would make them laugh? How do they like to have fun?
Try starting an email with “I don’t normally do this but…” and then follow it up with an amazing opportunity or showing your personal side!
#4 Send regular correspondence
It sounds so easy, but it’s true — if people expect to get awesome information from you on a regular basis (like every Tuesday morning) then they will be more likely to become loyal readers of your exclusive mailing list content!
#5 Engage your readers in conversation
“If you don’t ask, you won’t know” — so ask your readers what they like best about your business, what keeps them coming, what would get them to commit more of their time to their fitness and a myriad of other questions.
Unlike in person conversations, people are far more willing to be candid in email conversations. You will find gems in their responses and be able to cater upcoming promotions, workshops and programming to their specific responses.
